These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Fineprint website and app at fineprint-app.com (the "Service"), operated by Fineprint. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

What Fineprint is (and is not)

Fineprint helps you understand and respond to documents such as bills, leases, and insurance letters. It translates them into plain English, highlights items that may be worth questioning, and drafts letters you can review and send yourself.

Fineprint provides information and drafting assistance only. It is not legal, medical, tax, or financial advice, and does not substitute for a qualified professional. Flags and suggestions are starting points for your own review, not statements of fact that a charge is wrong or that you are owed money. Always verify important decisions, and consult a professional for high-stakes matters.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and let us know of any unauthorized use.

Credits & payments

• Fineprint is pay-per-document. Your first decode is free.
• After that, you purchase credits; one credit decodes one document. There is no subscription.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown before purchase and may change over time.
• Except where required by law, purchased credits are non-refundable. Credits do not expire unless stated at purchase.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for anything unlawful or to violate anyone's rights.
• Upload documents you don't have the right to submit.
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service, or use automated means to abuse free credits.

Your content

You keep ownership of the documents you upload. You grant us a limited license to process them solely to provide the Service (see our Privacy Policy for how documents are handled).

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that decode results, flags, or drafts are complete, accurate, or suitable for your situation.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fineprint will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any decision you make based on the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Service.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and continued use of the Service means you accept the changes.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Fineprint operates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
